The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery was founded simultaneous with the establishment of the Faculty of Dentistry in 1987. The Department began to train postgraduate students in 2000, and at present 13 postgraduate students are majoring in different educational levels. The Department staff consists of 8 maxillofacial surgeons. The Department has 12 hospital beds and 1 operating room in Imam Reza Hospital.

The Department provides services in the following fields and cases: diagnosis and surgical and non-surgical treatment of various maxillofacial conditions, traumas, congenital and acquired defects, infections, developmental anomalies, neoplastic cases, esthetic surgeries and soft and hard tissue reconstruction.
